    Description

    In 1980, I covered most of the political campaigns for ABC News. Walter Mondale set this trip up so that he threw the first pitch at the final stop, the American Legion World Series in Ely, Minnesota. Strangely enough, Ely was right near to his vacation home so he ended the tour there and we press folks had to make our own way home.
    I'm including a photo I shot of the Vice-President wearing one of these lightweight plastic jackets during the singing of the National Anthem. I can't believe that it isn't a rarity--not that many were there.
    I can't remember who won the game.
