    This is a rare November 20th, 1939 "Playgoer" combined playbill for Philadelphia Theaters ..... Currently playing at the Locust Street Theatre was the Post-Broadway engagement of the CHARLES L. COOKE, DAVE GREGGORY and WILLIAM TRACY musical "HOT MIKADO". (The production opened March 23rd, 1939 at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City and ran for 85 performances before going on the road.) ..... With lyrics and music by Sir WILLIAM S. GILBERT and Sir ARTHUR SULLIVAN, the show was based on their comic opera "THE MIKADO", but with "modernized tempos". The musical starred BILL "BOJANGLES" ROBINSON as "The Mikado" and featured MAURICE COOPER, JAMES A.
