Coverage
300-600 square feet per gallon.
Coverage variations depend on concrete surface porosity and amount of material applied.
Drying Time
Dry to touch: 2-10 minutes
Recoat: 5-10 minutes
Clear Seal Top Coat: 30 minutes
Dry times are for 75 degree (F) temperatures and medium humidity. Low temperatures will slow drying and curing time. Do not apply if rain is expected within 3 - 6 hours.
Surface Preparation
Concrete must be clean and free of dirt, dust, oil, grease, mold and mildew, and any other contaminants.
All new concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 28-45 days, or until a pH reading of 10.5 or less is achieved. Concrete must be completely dry prior to speed color application. It is strongly recommended that a surface probe moisture meter be utilized to verify the surface is dry. After visually determining the concrete is dry, test a minimum of 10 different areas of the concrete with the moisture meter. Pay special attention to cracks, control joints, and slab edges.
Recommended preparation steps:
(refer to Tech Data Sheets for each product below)
1. Remove any paint or sealer from the surface using Active Elements Paint Strip.
2. Remove any grease or oil from the surface using Active Elements Degrease.
3. Profile the surface and/or remove loose latent concrete using Active Elements Surface Etch.
4. Neutralize the surface acidity immediately after Surface Etch has stopped fizzing with Active Elements Neutralize.
5. Pressure Wash the entire surface to ensure complete clean.
6. Allow surface to completely dry
Application Steps:
1. Prime the surface using Speed Color Primer. Dilute the primer concentrate with acetone to the
recommended levels on the can label. For best results, use a pump sprayer or airless sprayer to apply the primer. Rolling the primer may result in un-even coverage causing variations in color. Allow to dry for 5- 10 minutes.
2. Stir/mix Speed Color well, dilute and mix Speed Color with recommended amounts of acetone. For best results, use a pump sprayer or airless sprayer to apply the color(s).
3. Allow 30 minutes to dry then apply top coat of TrueSeal 400S.
Pro Tips:
• Do not apply on very hot and/or windy days as the diluted speed color will dry very quickly.
• Apply several light coats to develop your color instead of a single heavy coat.
• You can blend different colors together to create your own custom color. Measure by weight to ensure
repeatability.
• Leftover material can be store in a metal solvent resistant can.
• When layering multiple colors, start with lightest colors first.
• If the concrete has been previously seal with a quality solvent based concrete sealer, skip the primer step.
