    This is a rare glossy press photograph of HELEN MORGAN, used to promote the
    Universal Picture film version of the classic JEROME KERN and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy "SHOW BOAT" which was released in 1936. (The Original Broadway production opened December 27th, 1927 at
    the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City
    and ran for 575 performances. This
    film, with several members of the Original Broadway Cast, was begun in late 1935 and released in the United States on May 17th, 1936.) ..... This masterwork by JEROME KERN and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II remains one of the greatest of all musicals and possibly the greatest musical theatre score to date. The story starts in the 1880's on one of the many American riverboats that featured traveling shows. The film starred IRENE

CONDITION: With the exception of a surface touch-up in the center, a small surface abrasion in the top right corner and minor edge wear, this rare photo is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or classic film historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
