Description
This is a beautiful souvenir program from JUDY GARLAND's triumphant 1956 return to New York's Palace Theatre. (The engagement began September 26th, 1956 and closed January 9th, 1957.) ..... In a career that spanned more than forty years, JUDY GARLAND (1922 - 1969) performed on stage, screen and television and her live performances were legendary. Although Garland appeared in concert as early as 1943, it was only when her film career stalled that she began regular concert appearances, beginning with a critically acclaimed 1951 concert series at the London Palladium. Garland then set a record when she appeared for 19 weeks at the Palace Theatre in New York City, also in 1956, and her 1961 concert "Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall" is often described as one of the greatest nights in show business history. She continued to tour until just three months prior to her death in 1969 ..... DETAILS: The oversized 20 page program measures 9 X 12 inches and includes an extensive bio and photos of JUDY GARLAND from her childhood and entire career up through the film "A Star is Born" (1954), her CBS color spectacular for Ford Motor Company and her five-week run at the New Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas ..... PLEASE NOTE: The scanned pages have been cropped due to the limitations of my scanner. The margins are slightly wider than shown ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor edge wear, this program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
